Getting Older

I know we all feel this way and I know it tends to be worst when we have children of our own but MAN....
yesterday sure was a hit in the face!
As kids we believe in Santa and the MAGIC that comes on Christmas morning.
Parents stay up half the night to wrap gifts,

strategically place each gift under the tree,

eat Santa's cookies and milk

and PRAY you can get at LEAST 1 hours sleep before you are awaken
by your little monsters  children BRIGHT and EARLY Christmas morning..

Since 2002 I have done these exact steps...every single year .... except for this one...
This year it was more like this...
We had a Christmas party at the neighbors the night before and got home around 11pm...
The kids ran around trying to get ready for bed and Santa ready, cookies, milk, and don;t forget "The Night Before Christmas" read to them by yours truly...

It didn't take the kids long to fall asleep after partying at the neighbors so I quickly ate the cookies, drank the milk and since I had done everything else earlier in the week I was ready to go to bed, thinking I would have early risers before 5 am....
What did I get....
I wake up at 6 and the house is quite....
I lay in bed til 7....
still no sound...
7:30.... here comes Boo (who is 6)...
I figured a quick breakfast and by that time the other two would be up... Lo (my 10 year old) come out of the room shortly after hearing Boo talking and ready to open gifts!
So the two of them RUN into the room to wake D (my 11 almost 12 year old) to get her out of bed...
They know they don't open gifts without everyone...
And what does she do?
"I am going to sleep in; I will open my gifts later."
My heart dropped.... WE HAVE HIT TEENAGE YEARS!
No excitement...
No hurrying...
She wanted her sleep...
and I want my baby back!
I know this feeling will occur to me more then yesterday as my little baby girls grow up
and I know that I had them all so young and that I am NOT really old (ok maybe I am)
BUT REALLY!
Christmas is my favorite holiday to spend with my kids and I was blessed to have all 3 with us this year again.
SIGH...

Apps I {Heart} for Androids

This is a little different of a post than my usual but I thought that this would be fun...
I have not joined the crowds with the out pouring love for the iPhone, I keep  saying  thinking about it
BUT truth be told I am a HUGE fan of the android based phones.
One reason for this is the TONS of FREE apps!
I have only paid for 1 app the entire time of owning a "smart" phone and that makes this mamma happy!
Here is the list of apps that I am LOVIN' right now!
A Beautiful Mess is new for the android system and ONLY $0.99!
Now Android lovers can join the iPhone crew with this fun picture editing app

Color Note:
This is my GO TO!
I have notes for everything and with a choice of 9 color coding options
this student/mamma is in "sticky" note heaven

Who doesn't like insatgram?
This is great for our everyday lives and with the new video feature
I can post videos of plays, concerts and more for the outta
state family!
Follow me now at what_photo

Slacker
I would cry without this one,
It is great to turn on to get me in the mode for cleaning,
studying and even editing;
Some days I would go insane without you Slacker!

Zedge
This app is on every smart phone in the house!
We all love it to download free ringtones, wallpapers and even games!

Yahoo Mail
With 3 email accounts all come straight to my phone in this great app
No more worrying about missing an email from the kids school,
my editor,  or a client

My FitnessPal
This was initially downloaded for a class but it hasn't gone away :)
Keep up with calories, working out and more with this bad boy!

The Weather Channel
This is another all time fav in this house.
Not only can we monitor the weather locally but we can keep an eye out for out of state family,
I think I have like 10 places I watch at all times to be sure my family is safe..
PLUS you get weather alerts!
This is a great thing to have in a place where you get a visit from a Tornado sometimes....

Geico
Yes it is true this app is AMAZING!
I have all the insurance cards in this app no matter what I am driving,
PLUS I can change my policy, make a payment and claim with a push of a button!
This is a fantastic to have with my daily grind!

So there you have it.
These are my go to apps as of this moment!
I know there are more that I have and sometimes use but not like these.
What apps are you into right now?

Beginning to Wonder

Have I made the right choices?
Have I given it my all?
When does a dream become nightmare?
Do you still push on?
Am I wasting time?
Wasting money?
Wasting energy?
Am I being true to myself?
Am I full of myself?
Am I the one with the problem?
They DON'T ALL have to like me...DO they?
Do I push on after so many years?
Do I give up?
Will we make it through this?
Can I do this?
I am beginning to wonder....

The Faint of Hearts

As a mother there are certain things that we are prepared for, we read books, learn through trial and air and then there are things that you just don't expect and are NOT ready for.
Yesterday afternoon my oldest had a doctors appointment and so I lugged all three right after school for what was to be a fast and simple ADHD check up.
Little did we know that because she is now 11 she was due for 3 boosters and so the mean mom that I am of course said stick it to her. ( I will never win mommy of the year award)

While D was getting her 3 boosters I told the others not to watch ( I am a complete whimp when it comes to shots and blood drawn that I am well known to faint at the site of them on my self let alone with my children)
Of course kids will be kids and tend to not listen to wiser words...
As we were leaving my middle daughter stated she was seeing colors...
As a club member of the faint at heart I knew automatically what this meant and rushed to her.
By the time I put my hands on her cheeks she lost all color in her face, her legs went limb and she was not longer responsive.
It was NOT this glamorous :)

I mind you she weighs 60% of my own body weight and there in NO picking her up and moving her and I literally had her face squished between my hands to stop her from hitting the tiled floor that was beneath her.
I kept talking to her to get her to respond and had D bring boo back out of the hall and have her sit down. As I laid her on the ground gently I asked D to grab a nurse to help me get her to respond, we were at 3 minutes of no response and I was about to loose my cool and control.
3 nurses came in and we got her awake and finally respond to us as they checked her blood pressure and heart rate and gave her juice and fanned her. All of the nurses complemented me on my control and calmness and wondered how I did it with it being my child.
I told them as a child of a firefighter and one who passes out also I knew what to do.
Thanks dad for teaching me to stay calm and assess the situations even if they are my own children, it is because of my quick thinking and lack of panic that I was able to help guide her limb body to the ground and keeping her from being hurt more severely.
The kids did ask me walking out to the car how I was so calm and I told them I may have seemed calmed but I had never been so scared on the inside in my life! :) Hey I am not superwoman!

While We Were Out

This last weekend was one I was grateful for because it was my birthday Friday.
I was blessed to be able to make it another year and since this is my last year in my 20s it was also a little but of a wake up call.
On Friday I got to watch the little girl I baby sit and though she was a bit fussy it was nice to spend the day with her. Granted she is 7 weeks old, but made me realize I am glad I had mine young. :)

Friday I recieved a birthday gift from my neighbor and a few cards in the mail from family members.

Friday night my neighbor took the girls for a few hours while my husband took me to go get my gift from him and the girlies ;)

This is just phase one. :)

Saturday we hung out at home after making our daily trip to Wal-Mart. The hubby had an appointment that afternoon so me and the girls made a wreath for under the mailbox :)
Saturday evening we went to my birthday dinner thanks to my biolgical dad at the Dixie Cafe.
After we got home from dinner there was a mysteru gift by the back door...
Turns out our other neighbors left an adorable gift for me!

Sunday brought lots of laziness and grilled steaks thanks to the hubby and finally cool fall weather.
Boo wore an adorable outfit to church and I must say I wish it would look this cute on me!
Hope you all had an amazing weekend!

It's my birthday!

OK so not really, but it is fastly approaching. I have less than 3 weeks til the big day! I have never been a HUGE birthday celebratory person BUT I thought it would be fun to do a wish list for all my readers.
By HorseFeathers. Check out thier site here
This wonderful and amazing braclet is a def on the top of my list. I would actually get it in the junebug color they offer to better fit my personality but I am sooo in love woth this thing ;)

This is another high on the list item. I think this woild make biz life a lil easier ;)

Since I actually live somewhere now that gets cold enough for these I have added these to my wish list of things to get. Scarves are a great accessory to many outfits and I think I can pull them off ;)

Any persoanl music player. I use my phone now but that kills the battery :(

Books are always a win and I have my eye on owning these series ;)

I think that about wraps it up lol...
